DigitalGlobe Releases New High Resolution Satellite Photos

Longmont, Colorado-based DigitalGlobe, which launched a new, commercial high resolution satellite into space on August 19th, has released some of the first, high resolution satellite images from its new WorldView-3 satellite. According to DigitalGlobe, its satellite is capable of 30cm native resolution, but in order to release the images it had to resample those high resolution photos to 40cm to make them legal. DigitalGlobe's new satellite photos are of such high resolution, that its users can see seams in an aircraft's wing, read runway markers, measure and count individual shipping containers on docks, and even see if an aircraft hatch door is open or if a fuel line is attached.
