DISH Network Closes Spectrum Acquisitions

Englewood, Colorado-based satellite TV operator DISH Network reports this morning that it has acquired two companies. It said that it acquire the reorganized DBSD North America, Inc. and substantially all of the assets of TerreStar Networks. DISH is acquiring the companies as part of a push to acquire nationwide 2 GHz wireless spectrum, which it hopes to use to as part of its plan to build out its own, LTE network. DISH said it has so far spent $3 billion for licenses. The company is currently waiting for approval from the FCC for its plans.
