Cricut Ties Craft Cutting System With High Tech 3D Software

In a move which ties the world of computer-driven crafts, and the world of 3D software design, South Jordan, Utah-based Cricut has tied with 3D software maker Autodesk, to output 3D designs from Autodesk 123D to its devices. Those designs--which includes everything from a 3D dinosaur, a 3D rocket, to a DIY smartphone stand--will be available online as individual purchasable projects on Cricut's online store, Cricut Design Space. AutoDesk's 123D modeling software is a free, entry level 3D design software product that Autodesk has been offering up to the "Maker" movement. The two said the support of Cricut's device will offer up 3D projects in a fraction of the time compared with traditional, 3D printing systems.
