ClearPlay Settles Lawsuit

Salt Lake City-based ClearPlay announced that it has resolved an outstanding patent dispute with Nissim Corporation. ClearPlay said that it has agreed to license certain patent rights from Nissim, and that the two companies have dismissed all claims against each other. Nissim had filed a patent infringement suit earlier this year claiming that ClearPlay was violating its DVD patents. ClearPlay's products filter movie content of objectional content. The company's technology had been incorporated into a product from RCA, which was pulled from the market as a result of the lawsuit. The company also faced legislation from Hollywood over its modifications of movie content, with those suits being dismissed in August due to the Family Movie Act.
