Arizona Firm Pays $246K in Piracy Settlement

Phoenix-based litigation support software developer IPRO Tech has paid a quarter-million-dollar settlement after an audit revealed that it was using unlicensed commercial software, The Business Software Alliance reported Monday. The alliance, which serves the international commercial software industry from its Washington D.C. headquarters, said it was alerted to the situation by a confidential tip made at its Web site. The alliance noted that, as part of its settlement for using unlicensed copies of Adobe, Microsoft and Symantec software, IPRO Tech paid $246,470 and agreed to purge all unlicensed software from its computers. The alliance added that it and its members were represented by a San Francisco Bay Area law firm—Donahue Gallagher Woods LLP.
