Ancestry.com Digitizes US Census

Provo, Utah-based Ancestry.com has digitized the entire U.S. Federal Census from 1790 to 1930, the company announced this morning, adding a significant amount of information into the company's online family history service. The firm said that the project gives it more than five billion searchable names in its genealogical database, which are accessible to its users. The move makes it possible for users to easily access the Census records, which previously were only accessible via microfilm at a number of public libraries. Ancestry.com provides online research tools for people researching their genealogy.
