Chandler, Arizona-based Amkor, which provides semiconductor packaging and test services, reported last week that it has plans to build a new factory and research and development center in South Korea. Amkor said it expects to invest more than $1 billion in the new center, to be based in the Incheon Free Economic Zone, over the next 10 years. The new factory includes about 46 acres, which Amkor said it expects to spend approximately $350M acquiring and developing the land and buildings over the next three to four years. The firm said it hopes to start up the factory in late 2015 or 2016.
