Advanced Energy Targets Marine Applications
Fort Collins, Colorado-based Advanced Energy INdustries, the developer of solar inverters, is expanding its target markets, saying today that it has rolled out a line of stainless steel, PV inverters specifically aimed at corrosive marine applications. The firm also said it has been selected to power a 787-kilowatt project at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) in Kekaha, Hawaii. The company's new inverters are better able to handle tropical, marine environments like Hawaii, which have sea-salt moisture--a very corrosive mix for electronics. The win at the Navy facility was with Maui Solar Energy Systems, a solar integrator in Hawaii.
