Tendril Inc., a developer of energy efficiency software for the utilities industry, revealed Wednesday that it has joined the Silver Spring Networks Technology Alliance Partner Program as a founding member. The firm said the program is intended to provide utilities with a choice of solutions in a variety of Smart Grid categories. Silver Spring Networks is a provider of networking infrastructure for "smart grid" systems. Tendril develops hardware and software based on the Zigbee low power networking protocol. The firm is based in Boulder, Colorado, and is venture backed by RRE Ventures, Vista Ventures, Access Venture Partners, and Appian Ventures.
