Boulder-based Tendril, which develops energy management software for the utility industry, said it has updated its software to add personalization and targeting tools to help utilities cross sell or up-sell their offerings. According to Tendril, its new software helps provide very personalized and highly targeted offers to customers, based on their individual habits and preferences--which can help energy providers with opt-in to energy efficiency or demand management programs, for identifying those most likely to install rooftop solar, and more. The company said that a company might use the tool to identify residential customers spending more than 40 percent of their energy on HVAC when temperatures are above 80 degres, own their homes, have incomes below $30,000, and live in the North Eastern United States, and other similar queries which can help utilities and others target very specific energy consumers with their programs and products.
