Mozy Unveils Online Backup Service for Macs

Salt Lake City, Utah-based Mozy Inc., a provider of remote data backup services, has developed an online backup service for Mac-powered businesses, Mozy's parent company reported Tuesday. EMC Corp. hailed Mozy's newest offering, MozyPro for Mac, as the first online backup service designed for businesses using Apple Mac desktops, laptops and servers. EMC said the application serves as a contingency for hard drive failure, natural disaster and computer loss or theft by securely and automatically backing up critical information and saving it to a remote location. EMC added that MozyPro for Mac is Mozy's second Mac-based offering: the company launched a Mac version of its end-user service, MozyHome, in May. Mozy was acquired by EMC in October of last year.
