Ogden Targets Outdoor Products Startups With Competition
Ogden City, with the support of Zions Bank, Grow Utah Ventures, and USTAR, the state of Utah's technology commercialization effort, have launched a competition which it hopes will spur new products and attract new companies to the area. According to the city, its new "Concept to Company" content will look to attract firms to the Ogden area, specifically in the area of outdoor recreation businesses. The city and its sponsors will award $20,000 in cash plus an equivalent value in consulting or prototyping services to the winner, with two runners-up getting $10,000 awards. The city said that the contest is open to any Utah-based inventor or small business with revenues of less than $5M, with a product or service idea that applies to outdoor recreation.
