Plasmon Outsources Production To Idaho Firm
Optical disk drive manufacturer Plasmon Plc is outsourcing some of its production capabilities to an Idaho-based contractor, Western Electronics, Western Electronics said Tuesday. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. According to reports in the Colorado Springs (Colo.) Gazette,, the move will result in a layoff of a small number of employees at Plasmon's Colorado Springs site. A Plasmon spokesperson did not respond to requests for comments on the deal's effect of staffing at the site. Though its international headquarters are in Cambridge, England, Plasmon’s manufacturing operations are based in Colorado Springs. The company’s U.S. corporate offices are located in the Denver suburb of Broomfield. Western Electronics is headquartered in Meridian, Idaho, but maintains a contract production facility in Westminster, another Denver suburb.
