Web 2.0 Investment Jump, Region Sees Increase
Dow Jones VentureSource reported today that $1.34B was invested in 178 Web 2.0 deals in the US, and investment levels in the Rockies increased significantly over last year. Dow Jones tallied $31M and 7 Web 2.0 deals in Colorado, Arizona, and Utah in 2007, up from only $7M in investment and 4 deals the prior year. However, Dow Jones warned that Web 2.0 investments may be peaking, citing flat growth in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the fact that the boost in Web 2.0 investment activity could be attributed to a $300M investment in social networking site Facebook.
