    Optica Technologies Rolls FICON Converter

Boulder-based Optica Technologies, a developer of mainframe storage hardware, announced Thursday that it has rolled out a product which allows mainframe computing users to connect their FICON products to storage area networks. According to Optica, its Prizm FICON Converter has completed interoperability tests with the Cisco MDS 9500 Series Multilayer Director. The Cisco MDS is one of the major enterprise switches available in the storage area networking world, and supports the ESCON storage protocol. Prizm's converter connects mainframes using FICON to ESCON.
