    Linux Networx Acquired By SGI

    Bluffdale, Utah-based Linux Networx, a developer of high performance computing (HPC) technology focused on Linux clusters, has been acquired by California-based computing firm SGI. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. SGI said the deal to acquire the core assets of Linux Networx provides it with software and patents in the area of cluster design, power and cooling and overall cluster optimization. The company will also hire key personnel from the company. Linux Networx was venture backed by Canaccord Adams, Lehman Brothers Venture Partners, Oak Investment Partners, and Tudor Ventures. As part of the deal, SGI said that it has received an investment from two of Linux Networx investors, Oak Investment Partners and Lehman Brothers.
