RFID Tracking Firm Acquires GPS Logistics Company
Scottsdale, Arizona-based Alanco Technologies, a provider of RFID tracking for the prison industry, said this morning that it has acquired StarTrak Systems for $15M in stock. StarTrack is a provider of GPS tracking and wireless subscription data services for the refrigerated transport industry. Alanco said that StarTrack has a projected sales of $20M for the fiscal year beginning July 1. StarTrak's products track GPS location, cargo temperatures, and fuel levels for refrigerated trucks, which are available to clients via the Internet. Alanco's products are used to track the movements of inmates and officers in prisons. The company also owns Arraid, a manufacturer of storage products, and Excel/Meridian Data, a developer of network attached storage products.
