SCO Targets Linux LAMP Lindon, Utah-based Unix software provider SCO Group is targeting the popular Linux-based LAMP software stack--the combination of the open source Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP software applications--used to power many web sites. SCO said that its new "SCAMP" stack combines SCO's OpenServer operating system and the Apache/MySQL/Perl/and PHP programming languages. SCO claims that its stack has greater reliability, performance, manageability, and support. The firm also said that it would provide support for the entire stack of software. SCO's SCAMP stack is available for $999. The Linux LAMP stack is generally available free of charge or bundled with commercial Linux distributions. posted on Monday, March 13, 2006
