Cornice Rolls Out Mobile Phone Hard Drives

Longmont, Colorado-based Cornice said today that it is rolling out a new series of hard drives targeted at the mobile phone market. The company said at the 3GSM World Congress today that its new Dragon series HDD is targeted at mobile phones, and has been designed into three Samsung mobile phones. The firm said that it expects greater than 10 percent of all cell phones will adopt high capacity storage within the next five years, as consumers start adding MP3 files, ringtones, pictures, video, and personal data files and movies to their cell phones. Cornice is launching its 8- and 10-gigabyte micro hard drives at the show, and also disclosed that Samsung has incorporated the drives into its i300 and v7900 smartphones.
