Salt Lake City-based Sorenson Media, developer of a video codec used in streaming Internet applications, revealed this morning that a U.K.-based chip manufacturer will integrate Sorenson's video decoder in future versions of its video processor cores. The financial impact of the customer win was not disclosed. Sorenson said Imagination Technologies of Hertfordshire, England, will embed the Sorenson Spark video decoder in its line of POWERVR VXD cores. Sorenson explained that the cores will be sold to semiconductor and consumer electronics companies for use in mobile phones, handheld multimedia devices, home consumer entertainment products, in-car electronics and mobile and low-power computer devices.
