Boulder-based SolidFire, the developer of flash-based, storage systems, reports that its systems are able to deliver more than 2x the performance than any other, benchmarked, virtualized MongoDB database deployments that have been published. SolidFire said it delivers over twice the opeations per second on MongoDB, compared with Yahoo Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB) results from other vendors. SolidFire offers up flash-based storage arrays, which help eliminate the latency inherent in spinning disk drives. Those flash-based arrays are popular with companies looking to accelerate databases and online transactions. MongoDB did not detail its numbers on the test.
