A regional Canadian lawmaker has chosen an offering from The SCO Group Inc. to help manage his re-election campaign, The SCO Group revealed Monday. SCO said the campaign to elect Frank Klees, a member of parliament for the Provincial Legislature in Ontario, will use SCO Mobile's GrassRoots application to manage its communication and collaboration needs. SCO explained that GrassRoots can extend Web-based e-mail and office functions to mobile devices, which enables campaign staff to stay in touch regardless of location. SCO added that elected officials or candidates can use GrassRoots to instantly send branded video, voice and text messages to constituents in response to breaking news stories. Headquartered in Lindon, Utah, The SCO Group develops software for mobile- and UNIX-based systems.
