PV Powered Gets DOE Contract
PV Powered, the manufacturer of grid-tied, photovoltaic inverters now owned by Fort Collins, Colorado-based Advanced Energy Industries, has won a contract from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), according to the firms. According to Advanced Energy, it has been selected to continue work funded by the DOE's Solar Energy Technologies Program (SETP), administerd by Sandia Laboratories, focused on commercialization of new photovoltaic inverter algorithms. That work is aimed at increasing the efficiency of inverters, with the goal of making solar power cost-competitive with traditional energy generation.
