Boulder-based Orbotix, the developer of the Sphero robotic ball, said Tuesday afternoon that it has released a full API and SDK. The new programming interface and development kit allows any software developer to create their own apps for the Sphero, which just started shipping this week. Orbotix designed the Sphero to be an open platform from the beginning, allowing developers to create apps which interact with the Sphero and a iPhone or Android phone. The company said that the SDK includes most of the source code for the first five apps which the company released for the Sphero Monday.
