Boulder-based Occipital, the developer of the 360 Panorama mobile apps, is expanding into 3D scanning today, saying that it has launched a Kickstarter project to bring a 3D capture sensors to market. The startup said its new 3D sensor will allow mobile devices such as the iPad the ability to capture the 3D structure of rooms, objects, and more, for use in augmented reality, mobile games, 3D scanning, and more. Occipital has raised over $144,000 in funding, well over the company's goal of $100,000 for its new device--in just a few hours of being listed on the site.
