Cloudflare, Backed By Pelion Venture Partners, Gets $150M More
Cloudflare a provider of Internet caching and security services whih is backed by Salt Lake City, Utah venture investor Pelion Venture Partners, said on Tuesday that it has raised $150M in a new round of funding, bringing its total raised to $330M. According to Cloudflare, the latest round was led by Franklin Templeton, and also included its prior investors, New Enterprise Associates, Union Square Ventures, Venrock, Pelion Venture Partners, Greenspring Associates, CapitalG (formerly Google Capital), Microsoft, Baidu, Qualcomm, and Fidelity. As part of the funding, Cloudflare added two new members to its board of directors--Stan Meresman, former CFO of Silicon Graphics, and Maria Eitel, founder and co-chair of the Nike Foundation. Cloudflare's Internet caching and security services are used by website operators to make sure their websites stay up, particularly in the case of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Cloudflare is located in San Francisco, California.
