Grotech Backs Speech-to-Text Startup, Voci, In $8M Funding
Venture capital investor Grotech Ventures, which has one of its offices in Denver, has backed a Pittsburgh-based developer of enterprise speech-to-text software, Voci, as part of an $8M Series B funding round. Voci--a spinout of Carnegie Mellon University--said both Grotech Ventures and Harbert Growth Partners led the funding round, which it will use to accelerate sales and marketing. Voci says it has developed technology which uses artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms, to provide highly accurate transcriptions of voice--including detecting gender, sentiment, emotion, and other biometrics aspects of those voices. Grotech was represented by General Partner Steve Fredrick on the deal.
