Montana Imposes Its Own Net Neutrality Rules
The State of Montana has imposed its own net neutrality rules, in the wake of the Federal Communications Commission's decisiont to repeal net neutrality rules last month. The state is the first in the nation to push back against the FCC's moves. The net neutrality rules in Montana only apply to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who have state contracts. The order, issued by Montana Governor Steve Bullock, says ISPs "must not block lawful content, throttle, impair or degrade lawful internet traffic on the basis of internet content, engage in paid prioritization, or unreasonably interfere or disadvantage the users' ability to select, access, and use broadband internet access service."
