Zayo Acquires Spread Networks, Adds 825-Miles Between NY, Chicago
Boulder-based Zayo Group said this morning that it has acquired Spread Networks, the owner of a 825-mile fiber route between New York and Chicago, in a deal worth $127M in cash. According to Zayo, the acquisition will help complement its existing network. Spread Networks'low latency, fiber route is used heavily by financial services customers. Zayo said the acquisition provides it with the lowest latency, high-fiber count route between New York and Chicago. The route already has more than 60 customers with additional capacity for more, according to Zayo.
