DigitalGlobe Supplying Satellite Images To Orbital Insight
Westminster, Colorado-based satellite imaging provider DigitalGlobe--which is now part of Maxar Technologies--has linked up with geospatial analytics provider Orbital Insight, the two announced this morning. According to the two, the deal will give Orbital Insight access to DigitalGlobe's imagery archive, to aid its analytic capabilities. Orbital Insight is using satellite and aerial data to estimate harvest yields, track retail activity at shopping malls, assess energy and natural resource markets, and more. Financial details of the deal were not announced. Orbital Insights uses software algorithms to analyze changing satellite and UAV imagery to track such things as how busy parking lots are at retailers, health and yield of crops, and much more.
