Robot Maker Chowbotics Gets $5M From Techstars, Foundry, Galvanize
A trio of Colorado investors are the backers of a robotics startup, Chowbotics, in a $5M funding round. Chowbotics, which develops robots for use in the food service industry, said on Thursday that it has raised $5M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from Techstars Ventures, Foundry Group, Galvanize Ventures and the Geekdom Fund. The first product from company, formerly known as Casabots, is "Sally", a robot which automatically makes salad. The company said its technology solves several problems in food service, including compromised cleanliness and inefficiency. Jason Mendelsohn of Foundry Group, and David Cohen of Techstars Ventures both join the company's board with the funding. Chowbotics was previously part of Techstars Austin, and is now based in San Jose, California.
