Rise Broadband Expands In Ten Markets
Denver-based fixed wireless Internet and phone provider Rise Broadband is in a market expansion today, saying that it has expanded its fixed wireless network in ten markets. Rise said the expansion comes in conjunction with the FCC's Connect America Fund program, which helps to fund infrastructure expansion in rural areas to offer up high-speed Internet networking. Rise said that the expansion includes cities in Iowa, Texas, Nebraska, Illinois, and Kansas. Rise says it now has over 200,000 residential /commercial accounts in rural and suburban areas throughout the Midwest, Rocky Mountain and Southwest. Rise uses wireless technology--rather than cable or fiber--to connect customers, and recently has been building out its network using Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology.
