Hurricane Electric Places Point of Presence In Wyoming
Hurricane Electric, an Internet backbone provider whose networks connect major Internet data centers across the world, says it has placed a Point of Presence (POP) in Wyoming--the first, Tier 1 network provider in the state. According to Hurrican Electric, its PoP, at the ACT Dtaa Center in CHeyenne, will allow local and regional ISPs and others to access it IPv4 and IPv6 network, using either 100 Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, or 1 Gigabit Ethernet equipment. Backbone providers like Hurricane Electric speed Internet traffic, by interconnecting networks with a minimum of hops between equipment. ACT Data Center said the PoP will help a variety of start-up and established tech companies who find their home in the greater Cheyenne area. Hurricane Electric is based in Fremont, California, but has PoPs in the United States, Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa. The company already has PoPs in Phoenix (Telx Phoenix, PhoenixNAP), Denver (Coresite), and Salt Lake City (C7).
