Limelight Networks Wins Neustar For DDoS Mitigation Network
Tempe, Arizona-based LimeLight is about to handle a lot more traffic -- but maybe not the best kind -- as it said it has scored a win with DDoS mitigation network provider Neustar. According to Limelight, which is a content delivery network (CDN) provider, it will be powering Neustra's distributed denial of service (DDoS) mitigation network, to help scale out Neustar's operations. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. DDoS attacks typically use a large network of compromised computers to overwhelm the systems of their victims; content delivery networks, tied into security prviders like Neustra, are typically used to help offload some of that unwanted Internet traffic--at least, until individual rogue machines can be shut down-- and prevent disruption of services.
