Ally Bank Launches iPhone, Android Wear Apps
Ally Bank, the online banking provider which has its headquarters in Midvale, Utah, said Monday that it has launched anew iPhone and Android Wear apps. The company said it has added a new "Touch ID" feature for its iPhone mobile banking app which uses fingerprint identity sensors to authenticate users, and a new ATM locator that runs on Android Wear smartwatches. The company said the features are the first in a set of features being planned for its mobile banking service, due to growing consumer demand for mobile related services. Ally Bank is looking to court millennials and others who are more comfortable with banking via mobile apps and websites than visiting in-person branches. Ally Bank -- which got its start as a division of GM, to help finance auto purchases -- is now a major competitor in online direct banking services.
