Sunburst Sensors, Based In Montana, Wins $2M Ocean XPRIZE
Sunburst Sensors, a group of chemists and engineers based in Missoula, Montana, has scored a total of $2M in the Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE, the XPRIZE Foundation announced this morning. According to XPRIZE, Sunburst Sensors won both the $750,000 Accuracy Grand Prize (based on performance) and a $750,000 Affordability Grand Prize (based on cost and usability), for a total of $2M. The group scored the top prizes for their work in developing pH sensor technology for measuring the acidification of the ocean. Sunburst Sensors is led by James Beck.
