Google Fiber Nearing Launch In Salt Lake City
Utah is continuing to be a hot market for the high speed Internet market, as Google said this week that it is about set to launch Google Fiber in Salt Lake City. Google said that Salt Lake joins Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville and Raleigh-Durham metro areas in the "design phase" of the company's super-fast network, where the company works with the cities to help figure out exactly where to place Google's network. Google has been providing its high speed network in Provo, Utah, since 2013, when it acquired the iProvo network; the company has been looking at Salt Lake City for a number of years for expansion of its 1 Gigabit per second, ultra-fast network.
