Phoenix-based
ON Semiconductor has scored a new, desirable two character ticker symbol,
ON, the company said this morning, which will switch into play on April 6th. According to ON--which currently trades as
ONNN on the NASDAQ--the symbol change will offer a "stronger, consistent and more recognizable brand" for the company. ON Semiconductor has been on the NASDAQ since 2000, prior to 2009, when the NASDAQ
">managed to convince the SEC to allow the exchange--formerly known for its four letter trading symbols--to also include the one, two, and three letter tickers that were formerly the domain of the NYSE.
