MoviePass, AMC To Launch Subscription Movie Pilot In Denver
Denver is set to become one of the pilot markets for a new, subscription-based movie theater program being run by AMC Theaters and MoviePass. According to the two, they will charge $45.00 a month for the service, which will let subscribers view up to one 2D, 3D, IMAX, or AMC ETX movie per day at any AMC theater in those two locations. The companies said the pilot is looking to cater to the millennial generation (18 to 34 years old) which has increasingly become used to paying for things via subscription (ie think Netflix, Hulu). The companies said the new service will launch in early 2015; the two also are launching a parallel pilot in Boston. AMC/MoviePass said the subscription program will be available on a first-come, first served, limited basis on launch.
