Techstars Powers New Robotics Accelerator From Qualcomm
Boulder-based Techstars is continuing to build out the empire of startup accelerators being managed by the group, and is powering a new startup accelerator in San Diego, California, being sponsored by Qualcomm. Qualcomm announced a new, robotics themed accelerator called the Qualcomm Robotics Accelerator, saying the new accelerator will focus on the next generation of robotics and intelligence machines. The new startup accelerator will be run by Techstars, which has applied its accelerator model to a number of corporate-sponsored accelerators around the country. Financial details of the deal between Qualcomm and Techstars were not announced. Qualcomm said it has commited $1M in total funding for the program, and will select 10 companies for its first class, which will run from May 2015 to September 2015; submissions are due by February 22nd, 2015.
