Missoula, Montana-based Rivertop Renewables has scored what may be the largest venture capital round in the state, ever, with a $26M funding the company announced today. Rivertop Renewables--which is working on technology to create chemicals from natural plant sugars--said the new funding came from Cargill, First Green Partners, as well as its existing investors. The company--which is led by Mike Knauf--said it will use the funding to scale its platform technology. Montana typically does not report any venture capital deals--or at most, one or two, small deals--any quarter.
