Overstock.com Takes On Pet Adoptions
Salt Lake City-based Overstock.com is applying its technology savvy to help find unwanted pets new owners, through the launch of a new pet adoption service, the company said Monday. According to Overstock.com, it is using much of the same technology it uses to help companies find products on its site, to help potential pet owners locate adoptable animals from shelters nearby to them. Overstock.com's new service lets users search for particular breeds and types of animal. The company said it is making the service free for rescue shelters, as a public service to the community. The site aggregates pets from many, local pet rescue shelters nationwide.
