Rocky Mountain Region Sees $279.5M In Q3 2013 Venture Investments

The Rocky Mountain Region saw a total of $279.5M in venture capital investments for Q3, according to the latest report from PricewaterhouseCoopers, the National Venture Capital Association, and Thompson Reuters, a nice bump from the $166.6M invested in Q2 of this year. According to the latest MoneyTree report, Colorado had 20 investments totaling $136.6M; Utah had 11 investments worth a total of $79.3M; Arizona had 4 investments totaling $62.3M; with New Mexico reporting 2 investments worth $1.3M together, and one investment in Montana worth $25,000. The totals for Q3 were slightly above Q3 2012, when $261.8M was invested in the region.

Nationally, venture capital was up overall nationwide, with $7.8 billion invested across 1,005 deals, a 12 percent rise in terms of dollars from last quarter, and an increase 5 percent in the number of deals. Nationally, the industries with the most investment was Software, which saw $3.6 billion in investments in the quarter, followed by Biotechnology, with $852M, and then Medical Devices, with $566M invested in the quarter.
