Salt Lake City-based security and IT software developer LANDesk Software has snagged an entire product line from virtualization software developer VMware, the firms said this morning. According to the two, LANDesk has acquired VMware's Protect product family, which VMware had acquired in 2011 when it purchased Shavlik Technologies. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. LANDesk said the buy expands its user-oriented T management market presence with access to new channels and a complimentary product line. Shavlik Protect is used for managing, monitoring and securing IT operations.
