ARCHOS Launches Android Games Tablet
Denver-based electronics maker ARCHOS said today that it has launched a new, Android-based tablet specifically designed for gaming, the Archos GamePad. The new device--which combines a touch-sensitive Android tablet with physical gaming buttons and controls--is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Archos said it is launching the device initially in Europe, with plans to release in North America in early Q1 2013. The new device features a 1080p, 7-inch display, tools to map different game actions to one of the 14 physical buttons on the device, and also runs non-gaming Android applications.
