Broomfield, Colorado- and Itasca, Illinoise-based Gogo is powering Wi-Fi on Delta's regional jets, Gogo said today, with the launch of the first, in-flight Internet service onboard a regional aircraft. Gogo said Delta is providing Wi-Fi in a Bombardier CRJ700 operated by Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a Delta Connection carrier, the first Wi-Fi equipped jet in the fleet. Delta had previously said it is planning to roll out onboard Wi-Fi to 250 of its regional jets, as part of a rollout to cover more than 550 aircraft. The first jet is serving Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, stopping in Omaha, Neb., Des Moines, Iowa and White Plains, N.Y. during the day. As part of the launch, the firms said they are providing complimentary Gogo access to all passengers on the jet, and will also provide gifts and complimentary 30-day Wi-Fi service on Gogo, to those passengers. Gogo is the consumer facing brand of in-flight wireless equipment provider Aircell.
