Webroot Extends To Mobile Banking
Broomfield, Colorado-based Webroot, the developer of security software, said today that it is extending its products into the mobile banking area. According to the firm, it is extending its mobile security applications to banking partners, to help those banks protect their customers using tablets and smartphones. The first product to come out of the effort is an Android application, which the firm says blocks threats and malicious applications aimed at mobile devices. The firm said its Webroot Mobile Security for Android app will assess the safety of website links before a person clicks on them, using the firm's anti-malware and cloud-based URL scanning.
