Go Daddy Trumpets Charity Efforts
Scottsdale, Arizona-based domain name registrar Go Daddy is bragging about its charity efforts again, saying this week that it donated more money to charities in 2011 than it did all last year. The firm said its Go Daddy Cares philanthropic division has so far donated $4.2M in charitable donations so far this year, versus $3.4M to causes around the world last year. The firm has been looking to bolster its corporate reputation, including awarding $100,000 in college scholarships earlier this month, but has had to deal with a controversy of founder Bob Parsons killing of an elephant in Zimbabwe in April.
