The Generations Network Becomes Ancestry.com
Online family history resource The Generations Network announced this morning that it is adopting the name of its flagship subsidiary, Ancestry.com. Based in Provo, Utah, The Generations Network operates through two companies: Generations Holding Inc., which is changing its name to Ancestry.com Inc., and The Generations Network Inc., which is changing its name to Ancestry.com Operations Inc. Tim Sullivan, Ancestry.com's chief executive, said the change, which is effective immediately, was necessitated because Ancestry.com had become the "defining online brand" for family history. Sullivan added that the company will continue to support its other brands, including Family Tree Maker, myfamily.com, MyCanvas, Rootsweb and Genealogy.com.
