Ancestry.com Hits 1 Billion Records
Online genealogical service Ancestry.com reported Tuesday that its members have now added more than 1 billion people to its database. The Provo, Utah-based business said the milestone took less than three years to achieve--the service debuted in July 2006. Ancestry.com noted that its family history repository now boasts more than 10 million user-generated family trees. The company added that subscribers can research their lineages and expand their family trees by accessing some 28,000 historical collections containing more than 8 billion records. Ancestry.com is owned and operated by The Generations Network Inc.
